We will begin the training on Studio Artist this Thursday so it is important that you all bring in your laptops. You can download the free trial of the software from Synthetik.com here Studio Artist. We also have 3 laptops (MacBook Pro 15.4-inch Retina 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7; 16GB RAM) in the loan shop which will process the Studio Artist actions quite quickly so please book them out and bring them to the session.
There will be a very short exercise called DADA Project set for everyone based on the moving body using Studio Artist which needs to be produced over the next week and which we will screen in the TANKS on November 8. Over the next few days capture 30 seconds of somebody doing a simple physical activity so you have a clip to work with on this Thursday. This can be inside or outside clothed or unclothed.
Check Eadweard Muybridges photographs (above) for inspiration or Duchamp’s ‘Nude Descending Staircase’ (below). Duchamp was a proponent of DADA which will inform this project.
